Jonathan Redfern
Sedimentology /Regional Geology / Field Studies / Petroleum Systems
International petroleum geoscientist and senior technical advisor with more than 35 years’ experience across exploration, appraisal, regional new ventures, petroleum systems evaluation and strategic basin analysis, gained through senior industry, consultancy and academic leadership roles.
Recognised specialist in the geology and hydrocarbon systems of Morocco and wider North Africa, with extensive expertise spanning onshore and offshore Atlantic margin basins, Triassic–Jurassic petroleum systems, Paleozoic plays, source-to-sink analysis, basin modelling, reservoir characterization and regional play fairway analysis.
Combines major IOC operational experience with strategic advisory capability, including prospect generation, acreage evaluation, farm-in assessment, exploration portfolio development, risk/resource assessment, regional geological studies and technical training for governments, national oil companies and international operators.
Founder and Director of the North Africa Research Group (NARG), one of the leading industry-supported applied research groups focused on North African petroleum systems, delivering over £7.5 million of sponsored research and consultancy projects with major international energy companies including ExxonMobil, Shell, Hess, BP, ENI, Chevron, Woodside, TotalEnergies, Repsol and ConocoPhillips.

Richard Dixon

Over 30 years experience with Robertsons Research and BP.
A sedimentologist / stratigrapher with extensive experience of regional basin analysis in North Africa (Algeria, Tunisia (including the Pelagian Basin), Libya (Onshore (Ghadames, Sirt & Cyrenaica)) & Offshore (Sirt / Benghazi Basins) & Egypt (Onshore (Western Desert) & Offshore (Nile Delta Deepwater) including field work on the Palaeozoic & Mesozoic sequences in Algeria (Ahnet Basin), Tunisia, Libya (Jebel Akhdar) & Egypt (Cairo / Giza Area & Gulf of Suez).
Visiting Professor status at the University of Manchester working with the North Africa Research Group from 2010.
Mohamed Soussi
Expert Sedimentologist / Stratigrapher
Prof Mohamed Soussi has spent more than 35 years teaching at the universities of Sfax and Tunis El Manar on sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, and Petroleum geology. He worked on the Saharan Paleozoic-Mesozoic and Mesozoic-Cenozoic of the Atlas and offshore Tunisia in both academic and industrial projects for oil companies. He supervised a PhD and conducted academic projects on the geology of the Moroccan High Atlas.
He has jointly published over 150 research papers, mostly on Tunisia and North African geology, and conducted fieldwork and led field trips with the ETAP (Tunisia national oil company) team during EPC’s events.
Currently, he is a Professor at the University of Tunis El Manar and head of the laboratory of Sedimentary Basins and Petroleum Geology, and is part of the North African Research Group team (NARG)
Remi Charton
Expert structural geology / LTT/ Source to Sink
Dr. Remi Charton is a geologist and an assistant professor in past and future landscapes in the Applied Geology sectionof the Department of Geoscience Engineering.
His expertise focuses on Low Temperature Thermochronology (LTT) and evaluation of exhumation and subsidence on a basin sale, including landscape modelling, as part of regional source to sink studies.
Remi is also an experienced field geologist, having undertaken exrenisve foeldwork accross North Africa and co-leads the Morocco field workshops.
He is also leading GIS specialist.
